Good evening readers!
With the hustle and bustle of the holidays including traveling, changes in schedules and transitioning back to a new routine, it's especially important to prepare your little ones prior to starting back with the new semester. By keeping your kiddos focused and guiding them through the new year, you can help be a consistent support for your employer. Please be sure to keep these helpful reminders in mind to ensure 2017 is as smooth as possible!
1. Begin with pre-teaching about the upcoming changes - With respect to pre-teaching, remembering "the sooner the better" is especially important. This is primarily due to the fact that it can be very difficult on children to spring new things on them without fair warning. Taking some time to explain any new changes in extracurricular activities, any changes in school schedules or any other changes can be especially helpful when you take the time to do so. Start talking about the changes now!
2. Set some goals - As everyone is making "new years resolutions," take some time to make new resolutions and goals with your kids. Whether that includes learning their multiplication tables, setting up time to practice playing the piano more regularly or even keeping their bedroom cleaned and on a better schedule, having some goals in mind at the start of the year can help keep everyone on track. It can also be very helpful to collaborate with your employers to decide on exactly what those goals are.
3. Take time to reflect - Be personal and specific on what things worked and didn't work from last year and make the time to discuss this with your kids. This can also include reflecting with your employer, so don't limit yourself with this tip! You can also use this time to discuss what things that your kids are thankful for from 2016. Use this time to truly reflect on the last year and maybe encourage your little ones to write letters to themselves to remember what occurred so they can always remember what it is that they learned.
We hope you all are able to utilize some of these helpful reminders this year as you move forward into another great chapter of you being a nanny with your family. Feel free to get creative with these hints to help your family stay focused on what is important! Thanks for tuning in to this week's Nanny Tip and we look forward to bringing another great tip for you next week!
