Countdown To The Holidays: Tips & Reminders

Good evening to you all!

As Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close, our agency members at Chicago Collegiate Nannies hopes that you have all had a restful and relaxing start to your holiday season. For all of our nannies who have busy schedules and things to get in order for the holiday season, we want to provide you all with a few helpful tips and reminders to keep in mind to help keep you focused and on top of things for the families you work for as schedules get busier!

1. Don't get too frazzled - With all of the parties, sleepovers, classroom events, sporting events, and field trips that might be coming up, remember not to get too frazzled! Schedules may get more full (and possibly change temporarily), but stay focused on keeping your schedule as consistent as possible. For kids, it can be easy to get confused about the new things coming up, so be sure to be especially on top of things by planning early.

2. Ask to be a part of learning about traditions - For families that you work for with differing cultural upbringings or holidays that they may celebrate different than yours, take the time to ask questions and learn about what traditions your kiddos celebrate. Find a time to ask questions with you and the kids about what makes their traditions special for them and their family. Make it fun!

3. Find opportunities to create new traditions - In the spirit of tradition, take some time to decide how you want to celebrate the holiday season together with your kids! Take a fun trip downtown to a holiday event, do a holiday scavenger hunt or even get creative and make a fun recipe or craft at home! Whatever you decide to do, make it unique and enjoy creating new memories!

4. Clarify any changes in rate of pay over the holidays - For nannies that may be working on holidays or are receiving holiday pay, be sure to clear up any questions with your employer prior to the holidays so there is no confusion. Having a candid conversation on the front end is much easier to handle than after the fact.

Well, that is going to be all from us here at Chicago Collegiate Nannies. Thanks so much for all of the hard work that you do and for what you provide to each of the families that you represent through our agency. Be sure to keep these tips and reminders in mind as the holiday season gets underway and we will see you next week with another nanny tip of the week!

Best,

Samantha Carney
